How are we already into the 4th quarter of 2021?? I can’t believe how the year is flying by. I fully committed this fall to audio books – I literally haven’t had the time in the last month to sit down and read a book (without falling asleep 😂) and I’m constantly driving! Honestly, I’ve been adamant to stay away from them for years (except for Harry Potter of course), but I’m really enjoying them this year!! Also, I realized when writing last quarter’s blog post that I misnumbered one, so I promise that isn’t a mistake in the photos!

The following books were my favorites this quarter – The Four Winds, The Book of Lost Names, At the Waters Edge, The Lost Man, and I’ll Be Gone In The Dark.
The Four Winds: I obviously love Kristin Hannah 😂. This one was INCREDIBLE! I couldn’t put it down at all and absolutely loved how it ended. Her writing is so beautiful and emotional – and this one was no different!
The Book of Lost Names: This was on my list for quite a while! I loved how well-written it was and how quickly it read. It follows a young woman in WWII France who forges documents for Jewish children to be smuggled into Switzerland. It’s inspired by a true story and it was PHENOMENAL.
At the Waters Edge: I picked this one by quickly scanning the synopsis and wasn’t sure if I was even going to like it but it was so much better than I thought it would be! Set in Scotland during WWII (do we sense a theme here?) it follows three main characters in search of the Loch Ness Monster. I definitely couldn’t stop reading it because I *needed* to find out what happened at the end.
The Lost Man: I love Jane Harper’s novels. This particular one is set in the Australian Outback and follows a family who suffers a loss that they can’t explain. Her depiction of family drama and character driven mystery is flawless and each chapter gets even more engrossing.
I’ll Be Gone In The Dark: Wow wow wow. This has been on my list since it came out and when I realized I could listen to it via audiobook I decided to check it out. I ended up only being able to listen to it while I was driving during the day (I made the mistake the first day listening to it at home alone at night and then couldn’t stop jumping at every little sound), but it was so fascinating that I couldn’t put it down. I *highly* recommend it – there’s also an HBO series that I haven’t seen yet! If you love true crime, you will LOVE this book and the research that went into it.
I’m well into a ton more books, but as always if you have recommendations, let me know!!
